Traveling Trunks
Albany Regional Museum’s Traveling Trunks program is designed to provide classrooms a hands-on experience to supplement social studies lessons through the lens of Albany’s local and regional history. Each trunk includes authentic and replica artifacts that will engage your students visually and tactilely.
Our 3 traveling trunks include lesson plans that meet current Oregon state social studies standards for 1st, 2nd, and 4th grade classes. 3rd grade classes are encouraged to visit Albany Regional Museum to experience an interactive guided tour that meets current Oregon state standards.
1st Grade Trunk: Country Life
How did Oregon’s early settlers live? Who lived in Oregon before settlers arrived? 1st grade students will learn about farming, animal husbandry, where food came from, and how kids spent their time in the 1850s with authentic and replica artifacts included in the Country Life Trunk.
2nd Grade Trunk: Albany City Life
Learn about life living in the city of early Albany! This trunk includes authentic and replica artifacts relating to shopping, communication, transportation, entertainment, and how kids spent their time.
4th Grade Trunk: Oregon Trail
What was life like on the Oregon Trail? Students will be able to understand life on the Oregon Trail with our 4th Grade Trunk. Authentic and replica artifacts are included to teach students about what types of things families brought with them, how they ate, and what kids did in their free time.

To reserve one of Albany Regional Museum’s traveling trunks please complete our reservation form below.
